Welcome to my world of imagination! I’m Stella, the hands, heart and original ‘‘Little Star’’ behind every illustration you see here.
From my studio in County Dublin, I create hand-drawn, whimsical characters designed to capture life’s most magical fleeting milestones. Whether it’s a personalised baby name print for a nursery wall, a custom Christening gift, or a heartfelt illustration to celebrate a childhood birthday, my mission is to bring little characters to life and create a truly unique piece of art your family treasures forever.
From Animation to Your Nursery Wall
Before founding Little Star Illustrations in 2016, I spent many years working in the animation industry. I trained in the art of animation and character design, bringing beloved characters to life for some of Ireland’s most prominent animation studios – including Brown Bag Films, Sullivan Bluth and Murakami – Wolfe Productions.
When my own children were born, I moved into freelance illustration and children’s publishing. My work as an art teacher, constantly reminds me of how beautifully unique, fun and wonderfully complex little kids are.
The Craft Behind the Magic
Even though the animation industry has changed, my process stays rooted in tradition. Every single design begins the classic way, with rough blue pencil sketches and an obsession with the tiny details that give a character its unique personality.
My signature style relies on timeless black and white pencil line work, finished with a deliberate, loving touch of vibrant red ink. Every piece is carefully made in Ireland and available as Fine Art Giclee print, ensuring it retains the texture and charm of the original drawing.
Outside the Studio
When I’m not buried under sketches or reference photos at my desk, you can usually find me out in nature. I love walking and meditating by the Irish Sea or hiking up a mountain to recharge my creative batteries. I am also a huge film buff and a lover of good storytelling in all forms.
